Grades 3-5 Learning Option Selection

On Wednesday, February 3, elementary schools will begin reaching out to families to learn if they would like their child to participate in Hybrid or Remote Learning. If you have not received an email or phone call from your child's school by Thursday, February 4, please feel free to contact the school office.

We realize that remote learning is working well for some students and families and does not work well for others. We hope that you will consider both learning options below and make a decision that works best for your child and family. If you have questions about what the options are, please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher or the school office.

Grades K-2

K-2 Hybrid Learning

K-2 students come to school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to receive in-person instruction. Students will participate in independent learning on Wednesdays. Students attending school will be required to adhere to health and safety guidelines including wearing a mask, social distancing, and sanitization protocols. In most cases, students will remain with the teacher that they have been assigned for the 2020-2021 school year.

K-2 Remote Learning

Similar to the current model, students will continue to participate in teacher-led remote learning Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for 2.5 hours each day. During the rest of the day, students will participate in small group instruction and independent learning. Depending on staff and student numbers, families may be able to select a morning or afternoon cohort option to fit their family’s schedule. Students will participate in independent learning on Wednesdays. In most cases, students will be assigned to a different teacher than they had been previously assigned for the 2020-2021 school year.

Grades 3-5

Grades 3-5 Hybrid Learning:

Grades 3-5 students would come to school Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday to receive in-person instruction. On days when students are not in-person, they will participate in a combination of teacher-led learning (log in during set times for synchronous learning with their teacher) and teacher-directed (independent learning) times. Depending on staff and student numbers, families may be able to select a Monday/Thursday or Tuesday Friday in-person cohort option to fit their family’s schedule. Students attending school will be required to adhere to health and safety guidelines including wearing a mask, social distancing, and sanitization protocols. In many cases, students will remain with the teacher that they have been assigned for the 2020-2021 school year.

Sample Schedule:

o Monday and Thursday: In-person learning at school; 9am-2pm;

o Tuesday and Friday: Log in for remote learning with teacher from 9-10am and 1-2pm

o Tuesday and Friday (from 10am-1pm) and Wednesday: Independent Learning

Elementary Schedule Shift

Currently, students participate in teacher-led learning between 8:30-11am or 12:30-3pm. When student's grade level returns to school for in-person instruction, in-person students will transition to the school's bell schedule and remote students will transition to the times listed below on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday:

K-5 Remote Learning Schedule (until grade-level start date): Cohort A: 8:30am-11am; Cohort B: 12:30pm-3pm

Kindergarten (beginning January 28)
- New Remote Learning Schedule: Cohort A: 9:15-11:45am; Cohort B 12:25-2:55pm
- New In-Person Schedule: based on school bell schedule with one hour early release
Grades 1-2 (beginning February 8)
- New Remote Learning Schedule: Cohort A: 9:15-11:45am; Cohort B 12:25-2:55pm
- New In-Person Schedule: based on school bell schedule with one hour early release
Grades 3-5 (beginning February 22)
- New Remote Learning Schedule: Remote Cohort A: 9:15-11:45am; Remote Cohort B 12:25-2:55pm
- New In-Person Schedule: based on school bell schedule with one hour early release
