Overview of FPS Board of Directors Position

The Franklin Pierce Schools Board of Directors is seeking applicants to serve as the Director of District 2. Applications will be accepted through Friday, April 19, 2024 at 4:00pm. The District 2 Director will be appointed to serve until November 2025, when they will have the opportunity to seek re-election. Applicants must be a registered voter who resides within Franklin Pierce Schools District 2. (click here to view the FPS district boundaries).

As a district, Franklin Pierce Schools continues to work toward more equitable outcomes for all students, staff and families. We seek director applicants who are committed to advancing this work by stewarding the vision of the district, supporting the structure of the organization, holding district leadership accountable to continuous improvement, and continually advocating for the interests of students.

The Franklin Pierce Schools Board of Directors meets 1-3 times per month, usually on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. Additional responsibilities include graduation ceremonies, an annual retreat, and occasional school and district events. Directors receive compensation for their service - $50/day for approved activities, not to exceed $4,800/year.

Applicants will be interviewed during an open public meeting on Tuesday, April 23 or Tuesday, April 30 in the Building C Board Room located at 315 129th Street South.

Overview of Franklin Pierce Schools

Franklin Pierce Schools serves 7,100 students in 14 schools across the Parkland, Midland, Summit-Waller and North Collins communities in unincorporated Pierce County. 72% of Franklin Pierce students identify as students of color, while households across the district speak 42 languages. In 2018, the district’s on-time graduation rate was 89.6%, an increase of over 30% during the past decade. Franklin Pierce Schools is home to a robust Early Learning Center, Dual Language Immersion Program, and innovative farm that produces food for thousands of school meals throughout the year. In 2016, Franklin Pierce Schools passed a $157 million bond which funded the replacement of five elementary schools, STEM facilities, security upgrades and a performing arts center.

March 20	District 2 Director application window opens.
April 19	District 2 Director applications accepted until 4 p.m.
April 23 or April 30	District 2 Director applicants interview with Franklin Pierce Schools Board of Directors during an open public meeting in the Building C Board Room located at 315 129th Street South. Date of interviews is dependent upon the number of applications received.
May 7	District 2 Director takes oath of office to begin service with Franklin Pierce Schools Board of Directors.
