Community Farm Days are finished for the 2023 season and will resume Spring 2024.

Come grow with us! Everyone is invited to join us for our Community Farm Days, where we work collectively, make new friends, and bring home veggies from the farm! People of all ages and abilities are welcome to join us at these times for Community Farm Days. No need to bring tools or have any experience; but dress for the weather!

The Farm is home to a community garden, managed by Harvest Pierce County. Anyone can sign up for a raised garden plot for the season.

All classes are invited to visit the Farm to learn about the naturally-occurring and human-made ecosystems here on the Farm, the tools and systems we use to grow food, conversations about plant biology, ecology, food sovereignty, the global food system, and other concepts. Field trips usually consist of a detailed farm tour, an immersive, in-depth learning experience tailored to each group's needs, and an opportunity to participate in planting or harvesting produce.

Farm visits are also available to other organizations and community groups.

Designed to give participants a full season farm internship experience without a full-time commitment, this training will combine classroom learning with hands on skill building. Farm Foundations will give participants an introduction to ecosystem theory and agro-ecology, soil and plant science, as well as farm planning and management. Each week participants will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge through physical farm work and observation. A share of the farm's harvest will be provided to each program participant throughout the course of the season.

Food Justice In Action: a four-period interdisciplinary program on the Farm. The course uses food and food justice as the starting place for conversations, reading, writing, and thinking critically around current and relevant social issues. In community, this course explores what it means to be in right relationship with the land and one another – focusing on Identity, shared history, equitable food access, climate change, social justice, leadership and more.

Ecosystem Design: this class studies environmental science and ecosystems through agriculture, using the Farm as a living laboratory. The course is designed as a hands-on course that digs into systems thinking, biology, and ecology concepts while learning practical skills of growing food, business, and leadership skills.

We hire a small team of students over the summer to help us run the farm! Together, we plant seeds, transplant veggies, weed, harvest, wash, and pack for our Fresh and Free Veggies program, summer meals sites, and the Eastside Nourish food bank. Our crew enjoys managing the farm work, learning to operate the big tractor and the walk-behind tractor, and cooking together every week. This is a paid position.
