At the Bus Stop

  • Be at the bus stop at least 5 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.
  • Wait completely off the roadway.
  • Do not approach the bus until the driver opens the door.

Afternoon Drop-Off

  • A parent, authorized adult, or approved older sibling must meet your kindergarten student at the afternoon bus stop.
  • If you would like your kindergarten student to be released to their 4th- or 5th-grade sibling who rides the same bus, you must complete a Kindergarten Transportation Release Form. Forms are available from your bus driver and should be returned to the driver once completed.
  • When meeting the bus, approach the bus door and let the driver know which student you are picking up.
  • If no authorized person is present at the bus stop, your kindergarten student will be returned to their school.

Safety Expectations

  • Students may only cross the roadway when directed by the bus driver. When crossing, students must always cross in front of the bus, never behind it, in accordance with WAC 392-145-060(3).
  • If your student will be transported by a parent/guardian or attend a daycare within their school's attendance area, please contact the Transportation Department at (253) 298-3865 so your student's transportation information can be updated. Notify Transportation anytime these arrangements change.
  • Review the district calendar for early release Wednesdays and other modified school days to ensure someone is available to meet your student at the bus stop.

These procedures are established in accordance with District Policy 6605 and Procedure 6605P.
