Bus Info for Kindergarten Students

Your student’s safe transportation is our #1 priority. Please follow these guidelines to help us keep your kindergartener safe.

• Per District Policy 6605P In the afternoon you must meet your student at the bus stop. The driver will not release your student without a parent, an authorized adult or sibling in 4th grade or older. If you want your kindergartner to be released with their 4^th or 5^th grade sibling that is on the bus, we must have a signed permission form on file. You may ask your driver for this form and then return it to the driver. 
• Students must be out waiting at the bus stop 5 minutes before the stop time and entirely off the roadway.
• Students must not approach the school bus until the door is open.
• Students must be met by an adult waiting at the bus stop when they return home. Approach the bus door and let the driver know which student you are there for.
• Students must not cross the roadway except under the direction of the driver when the bus is loading or unloading students, and they may only cross in front of the bus in accordance with WAC 392-145-060 (3), never behind.
• If no authorized person is present your student will be returned to their school.
• If your student is PARENT TRANSPORT or using a daycare in their school’s boundary, it is important to contact Transportation at 253-298-3865 to make sure your student is assigned to the correct route or removed from the list of riders. If at any time this information changes, again contact Transportation.
• Early release dates (Wednesday’s and other designated days) can be found on the school district website calendar page.  Please be aware of these dates to avoid your student being returned to their school.
