6700P District Guidelines and Standards for All Foods Sold in Schools

Assessment of the Franklin Pierce School District's Wellness Policy

A group of district administrators--including the Executive Director of HR and Business Services, the Nutrition Services Director, the Director of Health Services, the Director of Equity and Wellness, and a TOSA--along with teachers, parents and students met during the 23-24 school year to assess the current Wellness Policy, to separate it from the former Wellness Policy to make it specific to Nutrition Services, and to develop a District Staff Wellness Policy. The Steering Committee met monthly and the larger group met quarterly.

The group sent the updated Policy 6700 and Procedure 6700P to the school board for approval on September 24, 2024. Within Procedure 6700P are specific sections related to Meal Applications and Eligibility, Meal Patterns and Menu Planning, the Community Eligibility Provision, Breakfast After the Bell, Mealtimes, Food Safety, Meal Pricing, USDA Foods, the Non-Profit School Foodservice Account, the Charge Policy, Unpaid Meal Charges, Children with Special Dietary Needs, Civil Rights, Procurement, Smart Snacks Standards, Best Practices for Meal Service, Water, Celebrations and Rewards, Fundraising, Staff Qualifications and Professional Development, Family and Community Involvement, and Nutrition Education. The Policy will next be assessed during the 26-27 school year for effectiveness and changes, if necessary.

Meal Payment Information

Meal Accounts & Payments Every enrolled student has access to a breakfast and a lunch at no cost through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. If students wish to purchase an extra entree or a second meal at any of our secondary schools, they will need to have money on their account or pay at the time of purchase. Payments are accepted at all secondary schools by cash or check. Over the phone payments can be made with the Nutrition Services office, with a Visa or Mastercard. Call 253-298-4618.
