We are excited to share that ALL of our district's schools have been qualified to participate in the federal Community Eligibility Provision program, which allows us to offer all students enrolled in the FPS district breakfast and lunch at no cost.

If you have recipes that are important to your family and culture, we would love to hear from you! Seeing a meal you enjoy at home reflected in the school lunch line is a powerful way to help students feel seen in their school community.

*Our 2026-2027 Free and Reduced Price Meals application is available in Family Access! Your student(s) may already be qualified, please check your Portfolio for an eligibility letter.

Catering & Kitchen Use

A Nutrition Services staff member must be present whenever a school kitchen is used to ensure compliance with Franklin Pierce Schools' permit requirements through the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.

If you plan to use a school kitchen as part of your facility rental, please contact Nutrition Services at (253) 298-4618 with any questions or to discuss your needs.

Meal Prices & Payments

Every enrolled student has access to a breakfast and a lunch at no cost through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. If students wish to purchase an extra entree or a second meal at any of our secondary schools, they will need to have money on their account or pay at the time of purchase. Payments are accepted at all secondary schools by cash or check. Over the phone payments can be made with the Nutrition Services office, with a Visa or Mastercard, by calling (253) 298-4618.

Milk $1.00 if not getting a student breakfast or lunch

-A choice of 1% plain milk or non-fat chocolate milk is offered daily with breakfast and lunch.

Wellness Policy and Procedure

Assessment of the Franklin Pierce School District's Wellness Policy

During the 2023–24 school year, Franklin Pierce Schools conducted a comprehensive review of its Wellness Policy. A committee composed of district administrators—including the Executive Director of Human Resources and Business Services, Director of Nutrition Services, Director of Health Services, Director of Equity and Wellness, and a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA)—worked alongside teachers, parents, and students to evaluate the existing policy, refine it to focus specifically on Nutrition Services, and develop a separate District Staff Wellness Policy.

The Wellness Policy Steering Committee met monthly throughout the review process, while the broader stakeholder group convened quarterly to provide input and feedback.

Following the review, updated Policy 6700 and Procedure 6700P were presented to the school board and approved on September 24, 2024. The revised procedure includes guidance on a wide range of Nutrition Services topics, including:

The district will conduct its next assessment of the Wellness Policy during the 2026–27 school year to evaluate implementation, measure effectiveness, and determine whether any revisions are needed.
