Last Saturday, the Washington High School Cross Country team competed in the WIAA State Cross Country Meet.  In the girls race, MaryAlice Mitchell, a freshman, ran a personal record and school record time of 19:09.  She placed 5th overall, which is the 2nd best finish at the state meet of any student-athlete in Franklin Pierce Schools' history.  As a result of her top placing, MaryAlice was selected to represent Washington State and compete in the Border Clash Meet at Nike Headquarters against the best runners of Oregon State. Serenity Lasky also qualified for the meet and took 87th place and Luis Madora with 102nd place on the boys side.

For the 1st time since 1981, the Franklin Pierce High School Girls XC team qualified for state by placing 4th at districts as a team. Runners included: Moriah Dawson, Eden Mortensen, Katherine Jamerson, Valerie Eaves, Alex Armiger, Daffyd Tyler, Arianna Roeder, Christina My, and Mariah Herman. The girls went on to place 16th as a team.
