Meet Supt. Goodpaster

Franklin Pierce Schools Superintendent Lance Goodpaster was born in Seattle and spent much of his childhood in Vancouver, Washington.

Although Mr. Goodpaster’s bachelors degree was in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance, his experiences as a youth coach and volunteer in his wife’s classroom persuaded him to seek a career in education. He went on to get a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from University of Puget Sound, a principal certification from the University of Washington-Tacoma, and superintendent certification from Washington State University.

Mr. Goodpaster began his education career as a teacher in Franklin Pierce Schools in 1993 before moving to University Place School District to serve as a principal from 2002-2013. After returning to Franklin Pierce Schools in 2013 as an assistant superintendent, Mr. Goodpaster was appointed superintendent on July 1, 2018.

He is no stranger to the Franklin Pierce community, where he is an active Rotarian, a co-leader of the Mid County Leadership team, and a respected leader among school administrators across the region. He and his wife, Tricia-also a career educator, are proud parents of two children, Nick and Natalie.
